Celtics to Honor Gorman in Last Regular-Season Game

Legendary Celtics Announcer to Be Celebrated Before Game Against Nets

The Boston Celtics will honor legendary broadcaster Mike Gorman in a special ceremony before their final regular-season game of the 2022-23 season on April 9 against the Brooklyn Nets.

Gorman, who has been the Celtics' play-by-play announcer since 1981, will be recognized for his 42 years of service to the team and the city of Boston.

A Celebrated Career

Gorman has called some of the most memorable moments in Celtics history, including the team's 17 NBA championships and the iconic "Havlicek steals the ball!" play in the 1965 Eastern Conference Finals.

He has also been recognized for his excellence in broadcasting, winning numerous awards, including the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame's Curt Gowdy Media Award in 2009.

A Farewell Tribute

The Celtics' tribute to Gorman will include a video montage of his most memorable calls, as well as speeches from current and former players, coaches, and executives.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early to the game to show their appreciation for Gorman and to witness this special occasion.
