Tiafoe Fritz Target All American Us Open Semi Final

Tiafoe, Fritz Target All-American US Open Semi-Final

Americans Frances Tiafoe and Taylor Fritz set to face off in historic US Open semi-final

Two American men could contest the US Open final after Tiafoe and Fritz both reached the semi-finals

24-year-old Frances Tiafoe pulled off a huge upset to reach the semi-finals of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career. Tiafoe, who is ranked 26th in the world, defeated 22-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal in the fourth round and then followed that up with a straight-sets win over Andrey Rublev in the quarter-finals.

Taylor Fritz, who is ranked 12th in the world, has also been in impressive form at the US Open. The 24-year-old American has not dropped a set in the tournament so far and has beaten the likes of Alex de Minaur and Matteo Berrettini.

The last all-American men's semi-final at the US Open was in 2009, when Andy Roddick defeated James Blake. If Tiafoe and Fritz both win their semi-finals, it would be the first all-American men's final at the US Open since 2003, when Roddick defeated Mardy Fish.

Tiafoe and Fritz have never played each other before

The two Americans have never played each other before, so their semi-final clash will be a new experience for both players. Tiafoe will be looking to continue his giant-killing run, while Fritz will be hoping to reach his first Grand Slam final.

The winner of the Tiafoe-Fritz semi-final will face either Carlos Alcaraz or Casper Ruud in the final.
