Spain Park wins its seventh straight meeting with Helena

In one of the best games in recent memory, Spain Park prevailed over Helena in double overtime 34-32 on a 2-point conversion stand at the end of the second overtime.

Spain Park scored a touchdown with just 2:25 left in regulation to tie the game at 26 and force overtime following a missed extra point by Helena.

After trading touchdowns in the first overtime, Spain Park’s defense stood tall in the second overtime, stopping Helena on a 2-point conversion attempt to secure the victory.

"This was a great win for our program," Spain Park coach Shawn Raney said. "We showed a lot of heart and determination tonight.”

Spain Park quarterback Bennett Meredith played a huge role in the win, accounting for four touchdowns. He threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 37 yards and another score.

Helena quarterback Cade Carruth threw for 185 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 65 yards and another score.

Spain Park improves to 3-0 with the win while Helena falls to 1-2.

Spain Park will host Gadsden City next week while Helena will host Chelsea.
